Mormon Trail Farms

Nestled in the rolling hills of southwestern Iowa, Mormon Trail Farms is a family farming operation focused on sustainable agriculture. Caring for the land and the livestock is a way of life for the BreDahl family.

Looking out the kitchen window, you will often see black Angus cattle and white Finnsheep dotting the grassy pasture hills enjoying the sunshine and long straight rows of crops and forages growing in rotational strips, curving around the hillsides to prevent erosion.

Clark BreDahl is the author of Dispatch From Mormon Trail Farm with his article appearing in several national sheep publications starting in the mid 1970s, with current monthly publication in THE SHEPHERD magazine. He served as president of the Iowa Sheep Producers Association from 1978-1980, as Iowa’s representative to the American Sheep Producers Council for eight years and was recognized as Commercial Sheep Producer of the Year at the World Sheep Expo in 1991. He remains active with the American Finnsheep Breeders Association and serves to assist producers, young and old, in becoming successful, profitable partners in the American sheep industry.
